This article is part of the series Prestashop SEO Manager – FAQ. You could find the first part at https://onasus.com/prestashop-seo-module-frequently-asked-questions-part-1/

Question: Does the module generate meta field for keywords?

Answer: Not anymore. Keywords are ignored by the major search engines. Therefore they are not relevant to search engine optimisation anymore. If you are using Prestashop 1.6, you will notice that it has dropped the meta keywords field in the backend. For all those reasons, we decided not to use meta keywords in our module seo for prestashop. It may change again in few years time. Wait and see.

Question: Do I loose the previous meta tags I have configured manually when I install SEO Manager for the first time?

Answer: No. The module helps you to generate the meta tags per group. Groups are products, categories, suppliers, manufacturers, and so one. You could use SEO Manager to generate again the SEO fields just for the product pages. Therefore it will not impact the other pages and you don’t lose your previous configuration.

Question: How to ask pre-sale questions.

Answer: There are many ways to get in touch with us. You could send us an email at http://codecanyon.net/user/Onasusweb#contact or at contact@onasus.com

Question: Does the module always override the meta fields?

Answer: The module is constantly evolving. Today the module does keep the meta fields unchanged for product pages and categories pages, unless to tick the box to allow the override. Those ones are the most important ones. Progressively, we will upgrade the module to give you control over this option.

Question: Does the module help to generate tags for Products?

Answer: Not currently. Few of our customers have requested this feature. However, tags lead quite often to duplicate content. It means, they create several new pages with no added value to your shop. Google consider that as a bad strategy. We don’t want to provide a tool with a feature that provides the opposite of the expected result.

Question: Does the module update the SEO rewrite link in Prestashop

Answer: Not current. But we are specifying this kind of function as it is good to include relevant keywords in the url as well. We may propose in 2015.

Question: Is it compatible with Prestashop 1.4.x?

Answer: Prestashop 1.4.x was a very good branch and became very stable and mature. However it gets less attention from Prestashop and the company does not support it anymore. We started the development of SEO Manager for Prestashop 1.5.x and unfortunately it doesn’t support later versions of Prestashop. It works with Prestashop 1.6.x obviously. We understood that many shops are still running on old versions of Prestashop. And we are planning to support Prestashop 1.5.x as long as possible.

Question: Will you add micro data to your module

Answer: Micro data are strategic to SEO and we understood that. There are few vocabularies used by most of the websites: Google Rich Snippet, Twitter cards, or Facebook Open Graph. Prestashop 1.6 comes with the native support of the vocabulary Google Rich Snippet. In 2015, we will add the support of both Twitter cards and Facebook Open Graph for Prestashop.

Question: I have just used SEO Manager to update the meta fields. How do I notify Google?

Answer: Usually Google crawlers pay a visit to your shop few times a month to get the updates. You could notify Google yourself and the process is fairly simple. Please sign up at Google Webmaster if it is not yet the case. Then you would need to submit your sitemap.
